ABOUT CHILDREN INC

Children Inc is a voluntary project which provides inclusive activities for children living in North West Edinburgh who have additional support needs. The project also provides support groups and information for parent/carers and outings for families who have a child with an additional support need.

Children Inc was set up in 2001 and is managed by Pilton Central Association (PCA). The PCA are local people who live in the Greater Pilton area, who recognised gaps in services for groups of people in the community and have devoted their time and efforts into projects to improve the lives of disadvantaged people in the area.

Children Inc has a Project Co-ordinator, trained sessional Youth and Children's workers and volunteers.

Our present main boundary area is the Greater Pilton area of Edinburgh and we work mainly with children aged 5 to 12 years. However, families who have children outside of this age group attend some of our outings and parent/carers of children of any age are welcome to attend our support groups or contact us for information.

Access to the Project

Any parent/carer living in the Greater Pilton Area who has a child with an additional support need is invited to contact the project directly to enquire or register for activities by telephoning 0131 551 2460 or by email. We also welcome enquiries from any other sources, e.g. health, education, social work or other voluntary agencies who would like to refer families.

The project produces a newsletter several times a year detailing our activities and any other information that may be of interest to families. This will be emailed or posted on request if you wish to contact Children Inc. It will also be accessible on the website under NEWS.

Please contact us if you would like to know more about the project or discuss any ideas you may have for our development.
